Calm and Influence
An immersive experience designed to help calm anxiety
Made in collaboration with Beiqi Chen (LSA), Cameron Wilson (SMTD), and Quinn Schebell (CoE)
Utilizing 3D virtual space, percussive sound scapes, and comfort food, the goal was to capture as many senses as possible in an attempt to influence the user
Process
For this semester long project, our goal was to use our different strengths and backgrounds to create an immersive experience. By using the Computer Aided Design (CAD) software Blender and Cinema 4D, we were able to design the landscape and the individual components of the world. Using the game engine Unity, we were able to bring those components together to create the experience, then bring that experience to Virtual Reality. We then used a variety of percussion instruments to create an improvised soundscape to help guide the user through the experience. In collaboration with the Michigan 3DLab, we were able to showcase our project using an Oculus Rift at the Living Arts Symposium.
