Researching how we can use a delightful design framework to improve the lives of people with chronic conditions
The focus of our research was to think about how we could use design to help improve the lives of people with comorbid chronic conditions. The effects and routines required of comorbidity can have a major financial impact on patients, especially in underrepresented communities. Our goal was to think about how can we create a technology to help keep a person motivated to change these routines in a positive way. We considered the idea of cuteness as a way to ignite the feeling of joy.
Delightful Design Framework
engagement • surprise • liveliness • cuteness • serendipity • reassurance
This project was used as a way to test the delightful design framework developed by Professor Omar Sosa-Tzec. Design delight considers the user experience as specific moments in a series of performed actions. The moments of engagement, surprise, liveliness, cuteness, serendipity, and reassurance become a guide through which a user can experience a product in a delightful way. When you look at experience design through the lens of these moments, you can use them to heighten the feelings of enjoyment and delight in the user.
