Goals:

  • Research the different types of stimuli nociceptors can sense

  • Design an armor that harms the user as much as it helps them

  • Explore how nociceptors can be stimulated mechanically

  • Use only recycled, found, or scrap materials

 
 

This study helped me explore different avenues and the importance of being a designer. I think of design as a tool to help people, so designing something with the intention of causing pain was an interesting change of pace. Looking at this from an artistic perspective, I wanted to create something that shows physically how painful it can be for people to open themselves up to others.
