Animation Process
After listening to the music, we figured out the type of story we wanted to tell and at which points in the song the moods change.
Though messy, the storyboard process helped us make sure we were on the same page with the overall story and the shots.
We laser cut each worm movement out of mat board. We then hand painted them green to keep a consistent color.
We used a kneaded eraser to hold the worm in place while we animated. It held up well, even through the upside down shots.
For each drawn animation frame, we used Adobe Illustrator to layer different facial expressions over the same or similar images. The layering allowed us to keep everything in line to make the animation itself more smooth.
The final step was compiling everything in Adobe Premiere, aligning each shot to the music. We also figured out any extra shots we needed to help the story flow or become more clear.
